Review of CARS - another Pixar Classic

Pixar continues to make a name for itself of making great children's movies (with plenty for adult viewers as well). Classics such as Toy Story, The incredibles, Finding Nemo and more. Disney finally brought Pixar out following the old rule if you can't beat the competition buy it!

Cars is a story set between two very different worlds. The high octane world of the speed ways and cars racers and a dying town on old route 66. The star of the movie is Lightning McQueen - a red race car thats lighting up the track with speed. One the way to the final race where he hopes to win the world racing crown McQueen falls out the back of the truck and ends up in a dead town on route 66. Here he gets stuck and must fix the road in order to leave.

In this town he meets Sally, Mater, Doc Hudson and more. Needless to say McQueen learns there is more to life than the high life of the race track. He also learns that there is more to life than just his own selfish desires. The movies cars are very well done with the human characteristics nicely mixed with the vehicles so you can easily pick the make and model of the various cars, trucks and other vehicles. Perhaps one of the funniest moments in the film is when McQueens and Mater the tow truck go 'cow' tipping.

Pixar again pushes the limits of animation and the colours, especially on the race track with the camera flashes, etc really puts you in the middle of the race track. Ensure you have a multi-speaker system with a subwoofer so you don't miss out on the great sounds of being trackside.

Plenty of famous voices in the movie which are nicely matched to the on screen characters (I'll let you guess who).

All in all a great family movie. I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
